While each package will have its own set of detailed instructions, basically you will just boil the mouth guard for the allotted time, let it cool a few seconds then place it in your mouth and fit it to your teeth while gently biting down. With these mouth guards it is important not to bite too hard because then there may be holes in the guard.

The third type of teeth mouth guards are the ones made by your dentist. When you go in for your dental exam your dentist will create a mold of your teeth. This mold will be used to create a customized dental protector for your particular needs. Dentists can make athletic mouth protectors as well as those that prevent nighttime bruxism. Usually the guard will take some time to craft, it will not be available the same day the mold is taken.
